Metropolitan Transportation Plan
Charting the Mat-Su Valley’s transportation future through 2050
About the MTP
The MTP is the Valley’s first federally required long-range transportation plan. It guides investments across roads, transit, freight, walking, and biking, while supporting economic development, sustainability, and quality of life. Developed by MVP with local, Tribal, state, federal, and public partners.

Why it Matters
The Mat-Su is Alaska’s fastest-growing region, with population up more than 20% since 2010. This growth creates opportunities and challenges. The MTP ensures transportation investments reflect community priorities, improve safety and mobility, and meet federal funding requirements for continued support.
